Ascot and the Manley EncounterPublication Date: Wednesday September 14, 2016 03:55:16 am EST Ascot players wait in their position as Norman is required to kick off the ball after conceding the goal. After full time yesterday at Norman Manley High School, Ascot was able to secure one point to move to four (4) points in the ISSA Manning Cup Competition 2016. Undoubtedly Norman Manley High School and its supporters thought that they were going to be taking away three (3) points from yesterday's ecounter having scored, admittedly, a beauty in the first half and held the lead up to the last twelve minutes of the match. To compensate for their lethagic effort in the first half, Ascot pressed agressively in the second half of the match creating various challenges and problems for the Manley defenders inspite of some very interesting and questionable adjudications by the referee. One of these calls denied Ascot a goal which was scored after the balled ricochet off the top bar of the goal post to Shawn Foster's safe pair of feet. Another call worth mentioning is the issuing of a yellow card to an Ascot player who appealed to the referee while he was being fouled aggressively by the Manley player. However, the continued pressing wore out the Manley defence which resulted in them eventually conceding the imminent goal. Being the prudent forward that he is, Chazz Graham was able to clean up a rebound in the 18 yards area by deftly shooting the ball in the net through a sea of both Manley defenders who were desparately trying to expell the ball from in front of their goal. Ascot now prepares itself to face Denham Town at Dunbeholden this Friday. The team, as usual, craves the support of the school community. |
