Ascot cricketers sit in the Ascot Dugout at yesterday's match. Norman Manley defeated Ascot in an Inter-Secondary School Association (ISSA) Under 16 encounter yesterday at Ascot High School. After having been set a target for 211 runs for victory since Norman Manley declared at 210 runs, Ascot experienced several impediments in their chase of the target. During the Ascot's innings at the first tea interval, Ascot was only able to score 10 runs at the lost of two wickets. Thereafter, Ascot began to lose wickets at regular intervals. At the end of the game Norman Manley was able to take all Ascot wickets for a total of 65 runs defeating our players by 145 runs. This is their first showing in the under 16 category of the ISSA Cricket competition as this team has just graduated from the under 14 competition where they were semi-finalists. Coach Mr Beckford - PE teacher- expects a better showing of his players as they gain more experience in the competition. |
