The participants in the recently concluded Mathematics Competition

Ascot hosted on Friday April 8, 2016 the first-ever Mathematics Competition involving students from all Portmore High Schools.

Conceived and chaired by own Mrs Aleitha Martin-Mullings, the competition was created to feature some of the best Mathematics students from all the high schools in Portmore exhibiting their cognitive prowess in the field via the solving mathematical problems in teams within allotted times. In addition to using their minds to solve problems, competitors also had to create skits, poems, and songs for adjudication from given mathematical stimuli. The judges for the competition were Mr and Mrs Monteque from the Ministry of Education.

At the end of the day Ascot was placed third overall in the competition behind Bridgeport and Cedar Grove Academy who were placed first and second respectively.

The competition is expected to bring abstract Mathematics to students in an engaging and concrete way.
